Historic Milestones:
1950
British entrepreneur and pilot Freddie Bosworth established Gulf Aviation Company Limited as a private shareholding company on 24th of March of the same year.
1951
Overseas British Airways had 22% stake in Gulf Aviation through its subsidiary company BOAC in October of the same year.
1973
Governments of Bahrain, Emirate of Abu Dhabi, the State of Qatar and the Sultanate of Oman bought BOAC stakes in Gulf Aviation. As a result, the governments of the four states had shares of about 25% in the Gulf Aviation.
1981
Gulf Air became a member of the International Air Transport Association "IATA".
1992
Gulf Air company became the first Arab airline to make direct flights to Johannesburg in South Africa, and Melbourne in Australia.
2006
On the 6th of May, Bahraini government announced its full ownership of the Gulf Air after gradual withdrawal of Qatar, Abu Dhabi and Oman governments from the ownership of the company.
2010
Gulf Air launched the Falcon Gold cabin service to provide higher levels of comfort, especially for passengers on long flights.
