The luxurious Kulm Hotel St. Moritz has enjoyed an excellent reputation in the Swiss hotel trade for 150 years. Thanks to its founder, hotel pioneer Johannes Badrutt, St. Moritz and the Kulm Hotel were already considered tops in the Swiss Alps in the 19th century. A bet made the Engadine the cradle of winter tourism at that time. The beautiful old lobby is in wonderful condition with attractive traditional furniture. It was here at the Kulm Hotel where the first electric arc light in Switzerland was lit. It was here in St. Moritz where in 1928 and 1948 the Winter Olympic Games were officially opened.
